Every two years a major transatlantic yacht race starts in Le Havre (76 Seine-Maritime, Normandie)
27 October 2019 – sponsored by a coffee company the route is a classic voyage between France and the coffee port of Itajai in Brazil:
After 20 years of existence, The Transat Jacques Vabre is a well-established international fixture. The original idea is simple: a great race based on a historical course. As a good coffee, this trial is a mix of tastes and aromas. Let’s start a “Transat”….expresso!
There’s a week of festivities with a maritime/coffee theme in the week leading up to the departure.
For more info on the Transat see Transat Jacques Vabre
In Le Havre the Hotel Mercure Le Havre Centre Bassin du Commerce is very centrally situated, yet near the Ferry Port for Portsmouth and Ireland and the Bassin Paul Vatine where the Transat yachts are based.
