Givet (08 Ardennes, Grand Est) holds its annual Onion Fair (Foire aux Oignons) on 11 November 2019.
An umissable appointment in the Pointe des Ardennes, the Onion Fair. A happy atmosphere in the streets of Givet …
Check out this great show, its atmosphere and its star: onions. It spreads from both sides of the Meuse at Givet and gathers itself more than 20,000 visitors from across the region and beyond …
If we can of course buy onions on site, the show invites you to discover the richness of an armada of gourmet dishes with this ingredient … From the soup through the onion tart … you can also find specialties such as Ardennes ham, white pudding or sweets such as blue stone of Givet.
With its streets and squares which combines, in a joyous mood, the crowd, the merchants and the inevitable fun fair, the fair’s reputation is well estabished. Formalized at the time of Napoleon, since it takes place each November 11 and no one has ever missed.
Givet is on the banks of the river Meuse, close to the Belgian border. It also has the Charlemont Fortress built in the 16th Century by the Emperor Charles V.
