Nuits St Georges(21 Côte d’Or, Burgundy) lies midway between Beaune and Dijon and is famous for its wines. being the capital of the Côte de Nuits wine appellation. It is situated on the Burgundy wine route – Route des Grands Crus. It is an attractive little town with a pedestrianised main street, and plenty of opportunities to taste and buy wine, or try the local gourmet cuisine. There are some outlets from individual domaines and some negociants, who market and sometimes blend wines from different domaines.
The Nuits St Georges and surrounding Côte de Nuits Burgundy wine appellations produce predominantly red wine from the Pinot Noir grape – although a small amount <5% is white from Chardonnay. The reds are considered particularly good with great depth of plummy fruit! – see the official Burgundy wines website

Our recommendation is to stay at the Orée des Vignes Hotel in the peaceful village of Gilly les Citeaux, a boutique hotel where Agnes and Caroline welcome you to their 3-star hotel and former 16th Century farm. Take advantage of the good life, the garden and other quiet comfortable spots while enjoying personalised service. Nearby visit the most prestigious appellations and world-renowned villages: Nuits St Georges, Gevrey-Chambertin, Vougeot, Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny, Beaune – not to mention the finest dining establishments serving regional and gastronomic cuisine. – about 6km north of the town of Nuits St Georges
