Chantilly Chateau, Gardens, Cream and Lace

The Chateau de Chantilly (60 Oise, Hauts de France) has most famously given its name of both Chantilly Lace and Chantilly Cream. It has been the home to a royal palace (Chantilly Chateau)since the 17th Century, and whose gardens are a major attraction, not least 18 – 20 October 2019 when the Chateau hosts its Flower Show (Journées des Plantes de Chantilly) when the theme is “Sans Souci” – without cares!

The leading event of the gardening world for over 30 years, created in Courson and passed on to Chantilly in 2015, will bring together 200 exhibitors in the majestic grounds of the Domaine de Chantilly. The excellence of European nurseries chosen by the various Selection Committees, and the International Merits Jury that will award prizes to the most beautiful plants.
Nursery growers, collectors, landscapers, professionals from the plant trade, horticultural associations… From collection plants to the great classics, the entire palette of horticultural diversity will be on show. Objects and furniture to fully enjoy the garden, gardening tools and accessories, arts & crafts and traditional know-how. Conferences, signings, events, workshops and advice.
With an overall surface area of 115 hectares, the grounds of the Château de Chantilly are the result of several creations: the French-style garden designed by André Le Nôtre (the landscape architect for the Chateau de Versailles) in the 17th century, the Anglo-Chinese garden in the 18th century and the English garden in the 19th century.
